Brewers cleanup hitter Jesus Aguilar homered to right leading off the seventh inning extended Milwaukee’s lead to 6-1. Not only did Aguilar extend the lead, he may have given a sign of good things to come.
When Aguilar set the world on fire with a red-hot first half, he consistently hit the ball hard to the opposite field. In the third inning Friday night, he smacked a rocket to the right side, only to have it gloved by first baseman David Freese. Aguilar ended up being awarded first base on that plate appearance because of catcher’s interference, as his bat struck Yasmani Grandal’s mitt as he hit the line drive. Adding in the home run to right in the seventh, could it be a sign Aguilar is about to get into one of those red-hot grooves in which he can carry the team? If so, it couldn’t come at a better time.
