Having not scored since the second inning, the Milwaukee Brewers plated a huge insurance run in the seventh inning on a wile pitch.
Jesus Aguilar scored from third to give the Brewers a 6-2 lead.
Aguilar fought off a number of two-strike pitches from Kenta Maeda before doubling deep to the corner in right. Yasiel Puig just missed a sliding attempt for the catch. Maeda intentionally walked Mike Moustakas before striking out pinch-hitter Curtis Granderson. Orlando Arcia moved both runners up with a chopper between third and the mound.
That brought the No. 9 spot up, and Counsell sent Domingo Santana up to bat for Jeremy Jeffress. On the first pitch, Maeda spiked a slider that catcher Yasmani Grandal could not block, scoring Aguilar. Santana eventually struck out to end the inning.
Rookie Corbin Burnes is coming on to pitch the top of the eighth for the Brewers, who need to win to force Game 7 in the National League Championship Series.
