Members of Wauwatosa Fire Department will be fans in the stands this weekend.
Milwaukee Brewers All-Star relief pitcher Corey Knebel donated NLCS tickets for Games 6 and 7 to the Wauwatosa Fire Department. The four tickets per game were shared with firefighters and support staff.
“We appreciate you recognizing the hard work our folks do every day. Go Brewers!” Wauwatosa Fire Department tweeted.
Members of the Waukesha Police Department were lucky recipients of Brewers NLCS tickets by the relief pitcher earlier in the series.
“Thanks again Corey Knebel for the opportunity to come watch the #BrewersvsDodgers. Your ticket donation to @WaukeshaPD made a memorable weekend for the officers that were lucky enough to receive them. @Brewers #NLCS #OurCrewOurOctober,” Waukesha Police tweeted.
Wauwatosa Fire Chief Jim Case said it was an honor to have been selected by Knebel and the Brewers to receive the tickets.
“The personnel selected to go will be glad to represent our fire department and cheer on our Milwaukee Brewers!” Case said.
In an interview earlier this season with Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Brewers beat reporter, Knebel, a native Texan, discussed his connection to the area.
“I love beer and I love cheese and in Milwaukee you’ve got plenty of that,” Knebel said. “And the fans. Not even the fans, just walking around town, around Brookfield, we’re going to dinner or going to breakfast — whatever it is — wherever you go, people are respectable. They’re genuinely nice people just like in Texas. So it feels like home.
“In Milwaukee, everyone’s nice. It’s like Southern hospitality up north. It’s a great city. I love Milwaukee. I love everything about it. I love Brookfield. That’s where we live now. Downtown, Wauwatosa — every place I’ve been has had its perks. It’s a great place.”
Knebel has had a resurgence since returning to the big leagues after he was optioned to Class AAA in August due to command issues. Upon his return, he has been lights out for a dominant bullpen and was named the National League Reliever of the Month in September.
Game 6 of the NLCS is scheduled for 7:39 p.m. at Miller Park. If necessary, Game 7 is set for 7:09 p.m. Saturday at Miller Park.
