Ben Nau had a piece of Milwaukee Brewers post-season history in his right hand, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Standing in the corner of the Toyota Territory in center field at Miller Park, Nau had his right hand over the railing when Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff went deep.
The game-tying home run was “right there” in Nau’s right hand, but, after a pause, the ball dropped to the field.
Not many in the crowd noticed — the long ball off Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw electrified the crowd in the third inning and gave the Brewers offense a needed spark.
“It came in a little faster than I thought,” Nau, 15, of Brookfield said a few minutes later. “I just lost it.”
