Dodgers get two, but double play prevents further damage

Reliever Jeremy Jeffress entered with two runners on and no outs in the seventh and allowed a bloop single to Joc Pederson between second baseman Hernan Perez and right fielder Christian Yelich.

The hit seemed similar to the end-of-the-bat blooper Manny Machado dropped in against Jeffress Friday night, leading to two Dodger runs.

Corbin Burnes began the inning by walking Max Muncy and allowing singles to Manny Machado and Cody Bellinger to cut the Brewers lead to 3-1.

After Pederson’s blooper loaded the bases, Jeffress struck out Yasiel Puig.

But Jeffress walked the next hitter, Austin Barnes, on a 3-2 pitch to force in a run.

With the lead in jeopardy, Jeffress induced a double-play grounder from pinch-hitter Yasmani Grandal to end the inning.
