Dodgers score twice in sixth for 3-1 lead

A struggling Milwaukee Brewers offense that has scored just twice in the last 19 innings now must score at least that many in the nex three innings to avoid facing an elimination game on Friday.

RBI singles by Max Muncy and Yasiel Puig in the sixth inning have given the Los Angeles Dodgers a 3-1 lead.

Brandon Woodruff blanked the Dodgers through the first four innings, but yielded the tying run in the fifth. Justin Turner led off the sixth with a single in front of Lorenzo Cain. After a strikeout of Joc Pederson, Woodriff clipped Manny Machado on the left elbow to put runners on first and second.

Max Muncy then beat a Brewers shift, grounding a single through the left side for the go-ahead run. Brewers manager Craig Counsell summoned reliever Corbin Burnes, who got Chris Taylor looking at a third strike. But Puig, batting for Kiki Hernandez, lined a single to center to plate a huge insurance run. Muncy was caught in a rundown between second and third for the third out, but the Brewers were left to face a huge uphill battle against Clayton Kershaw.
