Jeffress comes on for ninth, struggles again, but manages to close it

Apparently hoping to have Josh Hader available for Game 4 Tuesday night, Brewers manager Craig Counsell has brought on Jeremy Jeffress for the ninth inning with Milwaukee holding a 4-0 lead.

Hader only threw eight pitches in striking out two batters in the eighth.

The move looked kind of iffy when Justin Turner singled and Manny Machado doubled to open the inning. Jeffress got Cody Bellinger on a pop-up to shortstop Orlando Arcia.

Jeffress walked Yasiel Puig on four pitches to load the bases but came back to strike out Yasmani Grandal on three pitches.

That brought pinch-hitter Brian Dozier to the plate. Jeffress got ahead, 0-2, with two curveballs, then struck Dozier out on a 1-2 fastball ont he outside corner.
