Jeremy Jeffress cruised through the seventh inning, retiring Brian Dozier on a foul popup to catcher Erik Kratz, pinch-hitter Yasmani Grandal on a fly to left and Max Muncy on strikes.
Brewers manager Craig Counsell will have the option of letting Jeffress pitch the eighth inning or going to Josh Hader for the final six outs. Jeffress is due up fifth in the bottom of the seventh, so the Brewers would have to have at least two runners on for him to come to the plate. In that case, Counsell would likely send up a pinch-hitter and turn the final two innings over to Hader.
In what might be considered a surprise, Counsell had rookie Corbin Burnes up in the bullpen as the Brewers batted in the seventh.
