Brewers reliever Dan Jennings made his first major league start, facing one batter, the St. Louis Cardinals’ Matt Carpenter.

The Brewers did something somewhat nontraditional Monday, electing to start reliever Dan Jennings in the first of many arms of a “bullpen game” against the Cardinals.
The lefty faced one batter, retiring the league leader in home runs, left-handed batting Matt Carpenter. Manager Craig Counsell immediately popped out of the dugout and called for Freddy Peralta to step in for relief. He threw only three more pitches to get the final two outs of the opening frame unscathed.
Naturally, Twitter users responded with some clever reactions.
